pentecost: listen, shake it!
On this fiery, spirited day, the whole place was alive in energetic rhythms. A drum circle offered its song while others were reminded of belonging, connections, and were marked with oil as a blessing of our hands that do God’s work in the world. Pr Engquist’s reflection begins as she interacts with one of our youngest members, an inquisitive 2 year old who noticed the birds and proclaimed “shake it” as his own connection to the day. Pastor reminds us that listening and understanding are the real amazing moments in the day’s story, and in our lives. To whom are we listening for a leading as individuals and church together? And how do we understand what the poet-preacher Jan Richardson calls “this grace that scorches us toward one another and into the blazing day?” Have a listen yourselves!
